Amazon.com iBatman Begins/i discards the previous four films in the series and recasts the Caped Crusader as a fearsome avenging angel. That's good news, because the series, which had gotten off to a rousing start under Tim Burton, had gradually dissolved into self-parody by 1997's iBatman Robin/i. As the title implies, iBatman Begins/i tells the story anew, when Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) flees Western civilization following the murder of his parents. He is taken in by a mysterious instructor named Ducard (Liam Neeson in another mentor role) and urged to become a ninja in the League of Shadows, but he instead returns to his native Gotham City resolved to end the mob rule that is strangling it. But are there forces even more sinister at hand? p Co-written by the team of David S. Goyer (a veteran comic book writer) and director Christopher Nolan (iMemento/i), iBatman Begins/i is a welcome return to the grim and gritty version of the Dark Knight, owing a great debt to the graphic novels that preceded it. It doesn't have the razzle dazzle, or the mass appeal, of iSpider-Man 2/i (though the Batmobile is cool), and retelling the origin means it starts slowly, like most "first" superhero movies. But it's certainly the best Bat-film since Burton's original, and one of the best superhero movies of its time. Bale cuts a good figure as Batman, intense and dangerous but with some of the lightheartedness Michael Keaton brought to the character. Michael Caine provides much of the film's humor as the family butler, Alfred, and as the love interest, Katie Holmes (iDawson's Creek/i) is surprisingly believable in her first adult role. Also featuring Gary Oldman as the young police officer Jim Gordon, Morgan Freeman as a Q-like gadgets expert, and Cillian Murphy as the vile Jonathan Crane. i--David Horiuchi/i p p span class="h1"strongBatman at Amazon.com/strong/span table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="4" cellpadding="4" tr align="center" valign="top" class="tiny" td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0007XG43W.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br All iBatman/i DVDs/td td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/156389341X.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br iBatman Begins/i 101: A Comic Book Primer/td td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0009A40ES.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br Where Have I Seen Christian Bale?/td /tr tr align="center" valign="top" class="tiny" td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/1401206905.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br All iBatman/i Comics and Graphic Novels/td td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000306A2O.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br iBatman/i Toys/td td width="33%" img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0009IW88A.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg" border="0"br iBatman Begins/i Soundtrack/td /tr /table /p p span class="h1"strongStills from IBatman Begins/I (click for larger images)/strong/span table border="0" cellpadding="4" width="100%" cellspacing="4"p p tr align="center" valign="top" tdimg border="0" src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/video/stills/batman3-small.jpg"br /tdp p tdimg border="0" src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/video/stills/batman1-small.jpg"br /tdp tdimg border="0" src=" http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/video/stills/batman2-small.jpg"br /td /tr /table p

Batman Begins January 6, 2009 The product was excellent and the transaction was fast, accurate and flawless. It is a great product with prompt, couteous service.
Great price on a good movie January 6, 2009 I bought this movie for basically the same price it would have cost me to rent it, so I cannot complain. I am not going to offer you a review of the movie, there are better places to find that; I am just going to recommend that, if you like this movie or think you might like this movie at all, it is better to buy it at this price then to rent it for a buck less.
Top Notch Batman Movie January 3, 2009 I haven't seen the Dark Night yet and in order to get what is happening in that movie I decided to watch Batman Begins. I never really wanted to see this movie even though I have been a big Batman fan over the years. However when I finally put the DVD in to watch it I was gripped from the first moment of the movie. br /br /This movie is by far the best Batman I have ever seen. Christian Bale gives an incredible performance. Katie Holmes as usual is so-so but she was better in this movie than most others I have seen here in. This movie is 2 hours and twenty minutes and my interest was kept the entire time. The action shots can get a little rough and Batman's voice is weird but there is nothing else about this movie I would have wanted better. I am so glad I finally watched this movie and hopefully you do too.
A Great Beginning to Blu-Ray January 3, 2009 This was my first blu-ray and it certainly started off my new PS3 with a bang! The High Definition quality is outstanding and it really proved to me the power of my HD-TV. As for the Disk as a Blu-ray its awesome.br /br /The movie by itself is groundbreaking for the Batman series. This reboot really saved the falling franchise after Schumacher. The combination of David Goyer and Chris Nolan writing the film really serves the most justice. The story is so original and fresh compared to the previous films. The acting comes at a close second. The all-star cast really pulls through and delivers real mortal lives. Christian Bale is a fantastic Batman and Michael Caine makes an even better Alfred. Our villains are well rounded but I wanted to see more of Scarecrow. I thought the idea was great to have him in this film and I was kinda longing for more. However, the film is a blast and any normal human being should find some enjoyment out of it.br /br /The special features are pretty interesting. The behind the scenes clips are fun, and the In-movie commentary is cool enough. Pretty much has your basic special features.br /br /If you own a Blu-ray player you gotta pick up this flick. No collection will be complete without it.
Great special effects but? December 29, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok I am going to rant a little.I thought the movie was good for an action film, but for a Batman movie ,NO.They always have to change things that are from the the original story,Why.OH I forget,it's artistic license.BULL .Someone said that this makes the joker more real, like batman is real in the first place,he is a fantasy character,no human can do that stuff.they should of left the Joker the way he was.People can still read between the lines and get the hidden meanings. You do not have to make him more human for us to get it.Quit changing it,like making Raz al Ghul as Batmans teacher in Batman begins.br / How about making the movie for us not your artistic selves.Become a painter if you want to be artistic.Well at least the cartoons usually stick to the original story line.br / I said I just wanted to rant and this gives me a chance to say how I feel about these producers and their artistic talent crap.
