Product Description A Marine Corps gunnery sergeant starts his last tour of duty, leading his men into Grenada, before mandatory retirement.
Amazon.com The controversial, Reagan-era invasion of Grenada by U.S. troops is, oddly enough, at the center of this initially interesting story of a seasoned Marine sergeant (Clint Eastwood) routinely insulted by younger officers for being a symbol of the war that America "lost" in Vietnam. Looking for both a victory and a little redemption, Eastwood's character trains a squadron of scrappy pups and turns them into fighting grunts, just in time to follow White House orders and take the little island. Marsha Mason plays Eastwood's love interest, and Mario Van Peebles is funny as an undisciplined con artist who joins Clint's men and finally catches the spirit after getting his butt kicked a few times. --Tom Keogh

Heartbreak Ridge DVD July 23, 2010 V. Butler (Arizona) An awesome movie! Full of action, and inspiring. Makes you even more proud of our service men and women and what they go thru.
One of Eastwood's Best! July 19, 2010 Gary R. Yaden (London, KY) "Heartbreak Ridge" is one of Clint Eastwood's best films and is one of my favorites. Eastwood is terrific as "Gunny Highway", an old-school, tough as nails, "it's my way or the highway" Marine drill Sargent who whips a group of goof-off misfits into a fighting Recon Platoon just in time for the Granada invasion. Mario Van Peeples is great as "Stitch Jones", a washed-up rock and roller who is the lead goof-off of the platoon. Eastwood never runs out of halarious one-liners as he takes on all comers from his goof-off recruits to the "I'm Playing Soldier" Col. who transfers from Supply and is trying to commanding the outfit. In the end, "Gunny" Highway and the Recon Platoon prevail and save the day during the Granada Operation, rescuing the Americans stranded at a medical University on the island. If you are an Eastwood fan, don't miss this one!
The Prequel to Eastwoods Grand Torino June 24, 2010 Rodney Howard (South Florida) Having just watched Clint Eastwoods GRAND TORINO, I find myself remembering this movie. Clint Eastwoods character in Heartbreak Ridge and Grand Torino give me a literal 25 year story of an honorable American soldier.
Love this movie but Blu-ray is flawed June 5, 2010 G. Abbate (Surprise, Arizona United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is probably my favorite Clint Eastwood movie. I can talk about why I love this movie but this review is really for the Blu-ray.
For the majority of the movie, the words are about a split second behind the actor's mouth. I exchanged the first dvd hoping it was just the one I bought but it wasn't. If both dvds were like that then they probably all are. If I'm wrong about this then please tell me. If you buy the Blu-ray version, watch closely.
Special Features: Forget it! There's the theater trailer and that's it.
